Our Story

SilverTop Timbers Tasmania
Private Forestry Plantation

The Silvertop plantation was established in the 1970’s, with all the Eucalyptus Nietins destined for simply for pulp.

In 2021 we managed to save 100 hectare of these beautiful mature trees from the clear- felling practice of the pulp mill industry. The additional 120 hectare of the plantation which was clear-felled is being re-vegetated in a variety of ways to minimise the environmental impact.

We aim to ensure that by using innovative and low impact forestry practices, that the timber from select trees can provide quality timber today while we secure timber for future generations.

SilverTop Timbers Tasmania, minimises our carbon footprint by undertaking all stages of the timber supply on site, from harvesting, milling and processing and replanting, ensuring that we are achieving a truly sustainable and low impact timber supply.

Diitto Creations

Diitto Creations in conjunction with SilverTop Timbers Tasmania works to ensure trees destined for fire wood or left to rot can be salvage and processed, thereby supplying a variety of timber products.

Owner and designer Tristan Lassig, can see the beauty and potential of all timberand uses both plantation and salvage timber to create traditional timber structures and furniture.

Both Diitto Creations and SilverTop Timbers aim to minimise timber milling waste. The repurposing of sawdust, and timber off cuts all contribute to a more environmentally friendly timber supply.
